Alternative Directions (A.D.) is a community-based program that serves MDOC Probationers and Parolees, as well as other clients in the criminal justice system. Our priority is to assist offenders in leading successful crime-free lives in the community. We do that by providing a safe, structured and supervised environment, as well as the opportunity to rebuild ties to the community and reduce the likelihood of recidivism.
Alternative Directions is committed to being a leader in the field of community corrections and has served the community for over 35 years.
- We serve the criminal justice system by providing a cost effective and productive sanction for those who are not a threat to the community, thereby freeing up jail or prison beds for dangerous offenders.
- We serve the community by providing the opportunity for offenders to make restitution for their crimes, fulfill court requirements, and to become productive members of society.
- We serve the offender by encouraging personal responsibility and accountability while providing an opportunity to repair the harm done to the victim and the community.
Alternative Directions has provided community corrections services to Kent and surrounding counties in the form of residential programming since 1979. Since that time, we have expanded our range of services to include multiple other programs that provide the court with alternatives to incarceration.
